Why there is false alarm? How to avoid it?

Sometimes, we saw an EAS pedestal in the store give a false alarm when a person passes through the gate without having stolen any merchandise. The most often is due to tags or labels on merchandise not being properly deactivated but other interference factors such as bringing items from other stores, even a key ring or electronic cable can set off the alarm.
It is also possible for alarms without any person passing through the EAS pedestal. Such interference is often due to other nearby alarm systems.
How to reduce false alarm?
Without doubt, false alarm takes much trouble for the store owners. It affects customer’s shopping experience and may also brings criminals an opportunity. So it becomes a very important issue.
Here we present some of the main solutions for your reference:
▲ If your budget is enough, it is better using the advanced AM (Acousto Magnetic) system instead of RF (Radio frequency) system. AM system will provide much correct alarm than traditional RF system. In additional it has better detection performance.
With the development of AM technology, AM sensor is not as expensive as several years ago. The price difference of AM system and RF system is getting smaller.
▲ Set the sensitivity of pedestal in a reasonable range.
The sensitivity of AM/RF sensor can be adjusted according to the store environment. If the interference around the store is strong, set the sensitivity lower.
▲ Using high-quality RF/AM sensor.
The false alarm rate will also be related with the quality of EAS pedestal, but has no relationship with EAS tag. Qualified products will help you avoid troubles.
▲ When a alarm is triggers, the EAS handhold detector may be helpful for you. It can check if the alarm trigging item is come from the bag of pocket.
